about

An Anti Depressing Decade was recorded quite haphazardly and impatiently with MPC 1000, Octatrack and Roland SP-555. Some programming was done, but mostly it was pressing record on a laptop and hitting buttons on the samplers while singing random words into a microphone. No post-mixing was done. Vinyl samples are used respectlessly.

Rudi Simmons was born in 1977 and lives in Oslo, Norway. He started recording music at the age of 14, when his mum won a small sum of money in a lottery and bought him a Tascam Porta07 four-track. He has played in different bands over the years (Pornshot, Gisli, Truls and the Trees…) and was also one half of the norwegian electronica-duo Beneva vs Clark Nova.

Influences include Sparklehorse, Benoit Pioulard, dEUS, Elliott Smith, Evan Dando, Iron and Wine and Lou Barlow.

Rudi likes simple songs, wonky instruments, whispered vocals and lo-fi sounds.

He also likes crosswords, waterparks and eating thai-food.
